Botnar (Map #3) is a farm near the town of Kirkjubaejarklaustur, (Map #1) and was destroyed [1] by the 1783 Laki Volcano. Vestur-Skaftafellssysla, County Map #23 [1] Ebenezer Henderson's account of the Laki volcano states that Botnar was "burnt up". (See the 8th paragraph down.) However Jon & Helga must have been a part of the rebuilding of the Botnar farm as their daughter Gudrun's record shows her birth on the Botnar farm as "December 19, 1801", seventeen years after the end of the Laki Volcano.
