
Thorarinn Haflidasson
Thorarinn Haflidasson, a relative of Gudny Arnadottir, and Gudmundur Gudmundsson were the first to
bring Mormonism to Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland. In 1850 while in Copenhagen studying the goldsmith
trade Erastus Snow converted Thorarinn and Gudmundur and they returned to Vestmannaeyjar excited
to share their beliefs with friends and family. In 1852 Thorarinn was drowned at sea. Guğmundur carried
on the proselytizing activities. Many converts were baptized on the shore of Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland.
